A Muscovite was sent to pre-trial detention center, who was checked for involvement in NEXTA

On Saturday, the Kuzminsky District Court of Moscow sent activist Oleg Selyverov to pre-trial detention center. He is accused of public appeals to terrorism. Selyverov was detained on February 3 after a search of his home. OVD-Info informs about the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention, citing a relative of the activist.

It is not officially reported that Selyvyorova is at fault. A number of mass media sources, in particular RBC, wrote at the end of January that the Muscovite was suspected of being involved in the activities of the Telegram channel Nexta Live, which, among other things, covers the war in Ukraine from positions critical of Russia. It was claimed that the Investigative Committee was conducting an investigation due to posts in Nexta Live, published in March of last year, and came to the conclusion that these posts were posted by Selyverov. He himself then told the publication “Baza” that he was not connected with the channel in any way. However, a few days later Selyverov was detained, according to RBC sources, precisely on suspicion of involvement in Nexta’s activities.

• Nexta Live is known as a Telegram channel created by journalists from Belarus, it was one of the main sources of information about protests in the country in 2020. Over time, he began to inform about events not only in Belarus, but also in other countries. One of the founders of the project, Roman Protasevich, was arrested in Belarus in 2021 after the authorities of this country landed the airliner he was flying on in Minsk. Nexta Live stated that Selyverov has nothing to do with the project, “and people even minimally connected with this channel do not visit Russia and are not there.”
