The former police chief of Omsk, sentenced to 10 years, went to war

The former head of the Omsk police, Colonel Yevgeny Bykov, sentenced to 10 years in a high-security prison in a bribery case, went to war in Ukraine. According to the new legislation, this exempts him from criminal responsibility. This was reported by BK55.

This information was also confirmed by the NGS55 publication, Bykova’s lawyer Natalya Romanovskaya. The sentence has not yet reached the final appeal, but he did not wait for a decision on it. According to the law, which was adopted in June 2023, Bykov will be exempt from punishment for the contract signed with the Ministry of Defense.

In January 2023, Bykov was sentenced to 10 years for accepting a bribe in the amount of 6.45 million rubles from the owner of the Orange erotic massage parlor Alexander Ignatiev. Bykov’s subordinate – police lieutenant colonel Mikhail Lebedev – acted as an intermediary during the transfer of the bribe. In exchange for money, the police chief promised to inform salon administrations about upcoming inspections.

Later, through Lebedev, Bykov received another 480,000 rubles from a businessman who traded in unlabeled alcohol and cigarettes. For money, Bykov promised the merchant patronage.

In addition to the prison term, Bykov received a fine of 20.8 million rubles. An apartment worth 5.2 million rubles, registered to his daughter, and two cars worth approximately three million rubles were seized from the former police chief. He did not admit his guilt and insisted on his innocence until the end. Lebedev received 2 years and 9 months of prison for mediation and was released last year.
