Georgia admitted seven former prisoners from Kherson, Ukraine, who tried to enter Russia and lived in the buffer zone on the border for more than two weeks. This was reported by the Volunteers Tbilisi project, which helps Ukrainian refugees.
According to “Meduza” publication, the day before one of the former prisoners cut his own veins as a sign of protest. He received medical attention, and now his condition is stable.
Earlier, the border guards of Georgia had already refused to let a group of former prisoners from Ukraine into their territory, who, after the Russian invasion of this country, were forcibly taken to Russian colonies and subsequently released.
In addition to the current case, at the end of August, six Ukrainians also lived on the territory of the Russian checkpoint “Verkhniy Lars” for several days, but in the end they were allowed to cross the border.
Officially, the Georgian border guards stated that they needed to receive a response to the request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
