Two suspects in the mass murder in Volnovakha have been detained

On Monday evening, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced the arrest of two suspects in the case of the murder of nine people in Volnovakha, Donetsk region. These are Russian servicemen from the Far East serving under a contract. Now they are being investigated. The alleged motive of the crime is a domestic conflict.
On October 27, the bodies of nine people, including two children – a preschool boy and a school girl, with bullet wounds – were found in a private house in the town of Volnovakha, which is located in the Russian-controlled territory of the Donetsk region. In addition to the owners of the house – a husband and wife, and their children, five of their relatives and friends who had gathered for a family celebration were killed. As local residents reported, the day before the owner of the house had a conflict with the Russian military who demanded moonshine from him.
- Volnovakha was occupied by Russian troops in March 2022. During the fighting, the city was seriously destroyed. Now he is relatively far from the front line. The Russian authorities consider the city, as well as the entire Donetsk region, to be the territory of Russia.
