Israel opened a Russian-language hotline for reporting threats to Jews

In Israel, the Nativ government bureau, which oversees communications with Jewish communities in the post-Soviet space, opened a Russian-language hotline for reports of threats to Jews, including, first of all, inflammatory content and anti-Semitic appeals on the Internet.

The hotline was created by order of the National Security Council, the Ynet portal reports with reference to sources in Israeli state structures. They do not exclude violent actions against Jews and Jewish objects in the post-Soviet space.

Thus, in Yerevan, attackers tried twice since the beginning of October to set fire to the only synagogue in Armenia. At the end of October, several incidents occurred in the North Caucasus. In Khasavyurt, a group of aggressive people tried to find Israelis in one of the city’s hotels. In Nalchik, a request for arson of the Jewish cultural center was recorded.

In Makhachkala, mass riots occurred at the airport due to the arrival of a flight from Israel. An aggressive crowd tried to find the Israelis and prevent them from entering Dagestan. A criminal case has been opened, several dozen people are in pre-trial detention centers.

In Europe, the surge of anti-Semitic sentiments has been noted by the European Commission. In particular, six-pointed stars of David were painted on the walls of houses where Jewish families live in Paris. The French authorities do not rule out that there may be a Russian trace in what happened.

In Austria, attackers desecrated a Jewish cemetery. In Spain, attacks were committed on Jewish stores and synagogues.

• The number of anti-Semitic actions increased against the background of Israel’s war with the Palestinian group Hamas, which is recognized as terrorist by the USA and the EU. In response to the militant attack on the south of Israel on October 7, the Israeli army launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip.
• The Palestinian side accuses the Israeli military of killing civilians. According to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, more than 14,500 people, mostly women and children, were victims of the military operation. There is no independent confirmation of these data. Israel denies accusations of deliberate attacks on civilians.
• Numerous actions in support of the Palestinians were held in different countries of the world.
• In Israel, 1,200 people became victims of the Hamas attack. About 240 people, including several dozen children, were captured by jihadists and taken to Gaza.
