In relation to the Buryat human rights defender Nadezhda Nizovkina, a protocol was drawn up under the administrative article on participation in the activities of an “undesirable” organization. This is reported by Sibir.Realii with reference to its correspondent, whom she contacted.
The human rights defender was informed about the administrative case in the building of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Ulan-Ude. The police accused Nizovkina of participating in the seventh international forum “Post-Russia”, which was held in Tokyo.
The transcript of her speech is cited in the case file, in which, according to the police, Nyzovkina expressed the need for the Republic of Buryatia to withdraw from the Russian Federation and conclude a separate peace with Ukraine.
In a conversation with Sibir.Realii, Nadezhda Nyzovkina connected the persecution with her human rights activities, namely representing the interests of Yevgeny Surikov, who was released from custody on December 14 after an appeal filed by a lawyer in the case of an attack on the lives of two police officers.
- On March 17, 2023, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia recognized the “Forum of Free Peoples of Post-Russia” as an “undesirable” organization on the territory of the country. According to the department, the activity of the forum “poses a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and security of the Russian Federation”.
- Nadezhda Nyzovkina is a well-known human rights activist in Ulan-Ude. She represents the interests of opposition activists in administrative and criminal cases. One of the last high-profile cases that Nizovkina dealt with was the prosecution of pensioner Natalya Filonova in the case of an attack on police officers after a rally against mobilization for war in Ukraine in 2022.
- In August 2023, a court in Ulan-Ude sentenced Filonova to two years and ten months in a general regime colony. The activist did not admit her guilt. In December, Filonova was transferred to a colony.
