The sixth Bulgarian citizen suspected of espionage for Russia has been arrested in Great Britain. Presumably, all six belong to the same network that has been operating in Britain since August 2020.

38-year-old Tyhomyr Ivanchev was detained by the counter-terrorist department of the London police on February 7. Then the court released him on bail. Today, Ivanchev again appeared before the court, he was ordered to be arrested, according to the police report.

Earlier, as part of the same criminal case, five Bulgarian citizens who lived in London and Norfolk were already arrested. Their trial began in September 2023.

According to the investigation, they passed secret information to Russia. Law enforcement authorities believe that the spy network also included an Austrian citizen and other persons whose details are not specified.

Three of the arrested Bulgarians were also charged with using forged documents — fake passports and identity cards from almost a dozen countries.
