A criminal case will be initiated against the owners of Crocus

The victims of the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow applied to the Investigative Committee of Russia with a request to open a criminal case and forgive the owners of the concert hall. This was reported to the Russian state agency RIA Novosti by lawyer Igor Trunov.

According to the defender, he represents the interests of 11 applicants. Among them is the head of the film crew, which was supposed to film the concert of the “Picnic” band, as well as relatives of those who died in “Crocus”.

The statement to the Investigative Committee states that the owners of the concert hall may not have paid due attention to the fire safety of the facility. In particular, eyewitnesses said that the stage curtain caught fire in a few seconds, although it should be made of fire-resistant material.

The document also states that the fire-fighting equipment and the smoke removal system were out of order, RIA Novosti notes. With reference to witnesses, Trunov clarified that many evacuation exits were closed at the time of the terrorist attack.

Crocus City Hall is owned by Crocus Group. It belongs to businessman Araz Agalarov. Commenting on the consequences of the terrorist attack, he noted that all fire protection systems were in working order, and the Crocus City Hall security service could not stop the armed attack.

Araz Agalarov’s son and his business partner Emin Agalarov also stated that all the security systems in the concert hall were working normally and there was pressure in all the fire hydrants.

The owners of “Crocus City Hall” also noted that they would like to restore the facility, but the final decision on this has not yet been made.

  • On March 22, several people armed with assault rifles broke into a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, where a concert by the rock group “Picnik” was scheduled to take place, and opened fire on the gathered spectators. Then they set fire to the hall. A strong fire started, as a result of which the roof of the building collapsed. According to the latest data, 144 people died.
  • In connection with the terrorist attack, 10 people, including four performers, were arrested, most of them citizens of Tajikistan. The alleged perpetrators were likely to face torture during detention and interrogation.
