A law on the release of criminals for participating in the war was introduced in the Duma

A bill on the release from criminal punishment of Russians who took part in the war with Ukraine was submitted to the State Duma for consideration.

The document, developed by the head of the Duma defense committee, Andrey Kartapolov, senator Andrey Klyshas, ​​and deputy Pavel Krasheninnikov, presupposes the release from liability of contractors and those who are mobilized, accused or suspected of committing crimes of minor or moderate severity. Exceptions are crimes against sexual integrity of minors, state security and terrorist activity.

Also, in the case of the adoption of the bill, the conditions for conditional release or repayment of a criminal record will be the receipt of a state award, dismissal from service due to health or age, and dismissal due to the end of the period of mobilization or martial law.

The document stipulates that if, after the start of military service, a person released from punishment commits a crime again, the court will assign him a term of imprisonment, taking into account previously handed down sentences.

Now those convicted of war crimes are freed from punishment by pardons signed by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

• Reports of serious crimes, including murder and rape, committed by returnees from the war in Ukraine regularly appear in the mass media. Hundreds of such cases are already known. The resonance caused by them forced the Kremlin to recommend controlled journalists not to tell about such incidents.

It is noted that Tsyren-Dorzhi Tsyrenzhapov had previously been tried for the murder of an 18-year-old student, robbery and illegal entry into a home.
