A married couple from Stavropol was arrested in absentia in the case of “fakes”

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia declared a wanted couple from Stavropol, Denis and Maria Mamedovyh, in the case of fakes about the Russian army. They are arrested in absentia. Mediazona found information about this in the department’s database.

Maria Mamedova worked as a personnel specialist in the regional center of forensic examination of the Ministry of Justice. According to her, after the beginning of mobilization in Russia in the fall of 2022, the leaders of her organization turned to her with a request to organize a gathering for the needs of the military. She refused and said that she does not support the Russian military fighting in Ukraine. In response, the leaders declared that the mandate came from the Stavropol authorities and threatened “consequences”. After that, the married couple left Russia.

Once abroad, the Mammadovs began to publish anti-war posts on their social networks. They also wrote an anti-war letter and sent it to the e-mail addresses of all Russian laboratories and forensic centers. In addition, the married couple wrote more than 35 complaints to various authorities, in which they demanded to bring the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to responsibility and stop the war in Ukraine. In response, they were threatened with criminal cases for extremism and discrediting the army. The accounts of Maria Mamedova in the social networks “VKontakte” and “Odnoklassniki” were blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

• Articles about so-called fakes and the discrediting of the army appeared in the codes of Russia shortly after its invasion of Ukraine. Russian courts recognize as discrediting the message about the war in Ukraine, which Moscow calls a “special operation”, and any information different from the version of the Ministry of Defense of Russia is fake.
• According to “OVD-Info” estimates, at least 724 people were prosecuted for their anti-war stance in Russia, including 215 against them for the article about fakes about the Russian army.
