A meeting of the group to nominate Duntsova for the presidency is taking place in Moscow

On Sunday, a meeting of the initiative group to nominate a journalist from Rzhev, Ekaterina Duntsova, to the presidency of Russia was held in Moscow.

It is reported that 719 people registered for the meeting. According to the law, there should be at least 500 of them. The candidate herself is also present.

Even before the official start of the meeting, the electricity in the hall went out.

Subsequently, the power supply was connected from backup generators.

Also, as reported, police officers came to the meeting, the moderator was in their presence asked journalists should not ask Duntsova “political questions”. As reported by the SOTA publication, by 16.00 Moscow time, the rental period for the premises had expired, and by this time the meeting had not formally started yet. The candidate asked the owners to extend the lease term.

Duntsova, a former member of the Rzhev City Duma, announced her intention to run for president in November. She spoke in favor of ending the war in Ukraine and against political repression. If the meeting of the initiative group nominates her for the presidency, she will need to collect 300,000 signatures for registration.

The same task faces President Vladimir Putin, who is running for his fifth term. The initiative group in his support put forward his candidacy the day before. Today, the candidacy was supported by the Congress of the “United Russia” party. Putin, however, is not running for the party.

Supporters of the former commander of the “DPR” separatists, Igor Strelkov (Gyrkin), who is in pre-trial detention center, also announced their intention to hold a meeting of the initiative group. Politician Borys Nadezhdin intends to run for president. Other potential self-nominated candidates have not yet been reported.
