Employees of the law enforcement agencies handed over Sed Suleymanova, a native of Chechnya, kidnapped in St. Petersburg, to her relatives in Grozny. This was reported by the “SC SOS” crisis group, noting that Suleimanova was not allowed to see her lawyers.
According to the crisis group, lawyers arrived in Grozny on Friday morning to find Seda Suleymanova. Sedy was not found in any of the departments named by the St. Petersburg police officers. The lawyers were redirected to the department in the Akhmatovsky district, where the lawyers wrote a statement demanding to familiarize themselves with the case materials.
“SK SOS” writes that Suleymanova was interrogated as a witness (although initially they said she was a suspect), and when she left the department, she was handed over to relatives – her uncle and aunt. At the same time, the lawyers were not informed about the delivery of Sedy to the department. The interrogation was conducted without their participation, and the girl was forced to sign a waiver of legal services, although such a document can only be drawn up in the presence of lawyers, the group’s message on the Telegram channel says.
The abduction of Sedy Suleymanova in St. Petersburg became known a day earlier. A native of Chechnya, who ran away from her family earlier, said that her family was in danger of death.
According to Sedy’s partner, Stanislav Kudryavtsev, several people came to their apartment on Wednesday evening, two of them introduced themselves as policemen, and two more – Chechens – were in civilian clothes. Suleimanova and Kudryavtsev were taken to the 54th police department. There she was charged with stealing 150,000 rubles worth of jewelry.
Suleymanova denied guilt. The valuables themselves were not found in her. To whom, according to the official version, they belonged is unknown. It is noted that Suleymanova is not listed on the federal wanted list.
Human rights activists believe that the case of theft was fabricated, as it is a widespread scheme of kidnapping people in Chechnya.
- In February of this year, Suleimanova was already tried to be kidnapped by her brothers, after that she had to change her job and address, reported “SK SOS”. She turned to human rights activists in October 2022, fearing “honor killing” by her relatives due to insufficient religiosity. It was then that the girl ran away from Chechnya, writes Kavkaz.Realii.
