A native of Sakhalin was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the case of treason and sabotage

On Sakhalin, the court sentenced a resident of the island to 15 years in a colony, found him guilty of treason and preparation of sabotage. This was reported by “Interfax” and TASS with reference to the FSB of the region.

The FSB said that the convict was preparing an explosion “at the facility of the region’s fuel and energy complex.” It is claimed that he acted “under the guidance of the Ukrainian special services”. During the search, they allegedly found components for making an explosive device, means of communication, as well as “a large amount of terrorist and extremist content” and correspondence with a representative of the Ukrainian side.

It is known that the convict was born in 1980, but his name is not known. He will spend the first three years in prison, the next – in a high-security colony.

• Since the beginning of 2023, no less than 63 cases of treason have been brought to Russian courts, in 33 of them the judges handed down verdicts, according to a study by lawyers from the First Department. Residents of Russia are detained for attempts to transfer data to the Ukrainian side, to switch to the enemy’s side, or to support the Armed Forces with money. To what extent the accusations are confirmed by facts – it is difficult to judge, since the FSB will not publish any evidence.
