A court in Yekaterinburg sentenced Permian Aleksey Gashev to 10 years in prison. In June 2022, together with his friend, Mikhail Sokolov, he threw several bottles with incendiary mixture into the windows of the military enlistment office in the Kirovsky District of Perm. The court found Gashev guilty of terrorism and treason. He will spend the first three years of his term in prison, the remaining seven – in a high-security colony, clarifies the publication Properm.ru.

Mikhail Sokolov was previously sentenced to 11 years in prison.

At the end of December last year, the FSB of Russia announced the suppression of the activities of the “agency group”, which included Hashev, Sokolov, and someone Dmitry Strelkov, who was named in a special service report as “an active participant in the right-wing extremist organization National Socialism/White Power, banned in Russia.” FSB claims that the members of the group were recruited by the SBU and acted in the interests of Ukraine.

  • After the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, and especially after the announcement by Vladimir Putin of the so-called “partial mobilization”, opponents of the war throughout Russia began to set fire to military enlistment offices, police departments and city administration buildings. Currently, almost a hundred such cases are known. At the same time, no one was injured as a result of the arson.
  • At first, criminal cases of arson were considered under the articles of damage to someone else’s property or hooliganism. Later, the General Staff of Russia announced that such cases would be considered acts of terrorism and would be punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The first sentence, in which the arson of the military enlistment office was qualified as a terrorist act, was handed down at the end of January 2023.
