A resident of St. Petersburg was arrested in a case of political vandalism

The court in St. Petersburg arrested local resident Dmitry Blynov. He is accused of politically motivated vandalism. This was reported by the press service of the city’s courts.

It follows from the case materials that Blynov wrote an “unverifiable inscription” on the transformer substation. What exactly – is not specified. According to “Fontanka”, the St. Petersburg man allegedly wrote “something very unpleasant about the government.”

Blynov objected to the arrest in court. According to him, he has no intention of hiding, admitted his guilt, did not go to rallies, did not attend demonstrations, was not a participant in the protest movement. The defense of St. Petersburg insisted on house arrest. The court sent Blynov to the SIZO until March 19.

Earlier, 56-year-old Konstantin Podoshvelev was arrested in St. Petersburg. He was accused of two criminal cases – vandalism and damage to objects of cultural heritage. Allegedly, he painted inscriptions on the buildings of the Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great, the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Umylenie” and the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. The investigation suggests that Podoshvelev wrote “University for murderers” on the university building, and “ROC for murderers” on the walls of churches. Arrested in the 1990s, he worked in the police.
