A resident of Temryuk received five years in prison for transferring FBK funds

A court in the Krasnodar region sentenced Andrey Kovalenko, a resident of Temryuk, to five years in prison. He was found guilty of financing the Anti-Corruption Fund of Alexei Navalny, creating malicious computer programs and illegally processing bank card payments. This is reported by the United Press Service of Regional Courts.
FSB officers conducted the investigation into Kovalenko. According to their data, the convicted person participated in the scheme of illegal debiting of money from bank cards of residents of Europe, the USA and South America.
Investigators claim that Kovalenko found accomplices on the Internet and sent them malicious files. The attackers distributed them to foreigners’ computers under the guise of e-mail newsletters for a reward.
After launching a malicious program on the victim’s computer, Kovalenko gained access to the information he used to make purchases in online stores.
In addition, the sentence states that a resident of Temryuk donated funds to FBK. Navalny’s foundation and other structures are recognized as extremist in Russia, and their activities are prohibited.
It is not reported whether Kovalenko admitted his guilt.
