The Bryansk Regional Court sentenced a local resident, Dmytro Prokhorenko, to 13 years in a strict-regime prison in a case of treason and sabotage. This is stated in the press service of the court.

According to the resolution, Prokhorenko will spend the first two and a half years in prison. It is reported that he pleaded guilty and entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement.

According to the investigation, Prokhorenko, working in a company that provides digital services, gave information about the activities of one of the divisions of the Russian army to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He allegedly got access to it while providing communication services. It is confirmed that Prokhorenko periodically communicated to the Ukrainian side information about the location and activities of Russian units in the Bryansk region. The investigation believes that he also set fire to the relay cabinet on the railway on a request from Ukraine.

It became known about the detention and arrest of Prokhorenko in January 2023. He was accused of setting fire to a relay box on the railway in the Suraz district.

Initially, Prokhorenko received ten days of administrative arrest. Later, the deputy of the State Duma, Alexander Khinshtein, reported in his Telegram channel that he “sent a request to the prosecutor of the region to conduct an inspection and apply response measures” due to the situation with the arson on the railway. After that, Prokhorenko was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
