A resident of Ulan-Ude was fined for honoring the memory of Navalny

The Soviet District Court of Ulan-Ude fined local resident Svetlana Vachelanova 25,000 rubles for placing flowers and photographs of Alexei Navalny at the monument to the victims of political repression on February 17. She was found guilty under the administrative article on organizing a public event without notification, Sibir.Realii reports.

According to the court’s decision, Vachelanova’s offense consists in the fact that she, without notifying the authorities in accordance with the procedure established by law, “made campaign material, printed a photo of A.A. Navalny, known as one of the leaders of the Russian opposition, on A4 format, placed in a frame “. Then she “took actions to purchase flowers in the amount of eight pieces.” And, finally, she placed a photo and flowers at the foot of the monument to the victims of political repressions in the 1930s and 1950s.

Vachelanova did not admit guilt, as she does not consider the placing of photos and flowers to be a “public event in the form of group picketing.” The court’s decision has been appealed.
