A video appeared with the beheading, presumably, of a Ukrainian prisoner

[ad_1]

On Tuesday evening, a video began to circulate on the Internet, in which people in military uniforms with white ribbons (usually used for identification by the Russian military in Ukraine) brutally kill a person in uniform with Ukrainian insignia.

The faces of people in the video, which lasts one and a half minutes, are covered by masks. One of them conducts negotiations on the radio and gives instructions to the second, who decapitates the man. The recording also shows how the alleged Russian soldiers demonstrate to the camera a bulletproof vest with Ukrainian insignia.

It is unknown when, where and by whom the video was shot. Based on the green grass and leaves in the frame, it can be assumed that it was filmed in the summer of 2022. The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed.

One of the first videos was published by the closed Telegram channel of the creator of “Men’s State” Vladyslav Pozdnyakov, reports The Insider. The video also went viral on Russian Telegram channels supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and on Ukrainian social networks.

Shortly after the video appeared on the Internet, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak wrote on his social networks: “There will be responsibility and responsibility for everything.” Ermak did not specify why this post appeared. Ukrainian Telegram channels assume that this is a response to the appearance of a video of a murder.

The Security Service of Ukraine has launched an investigation into the alleged murder of a prisoner.

  • According to the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, signed by Russia, among others, prisoners must be guaranteed life and humane conditions of detention. Punishment or cruel treatment of prisoners of war are classified as war crimes.
  • During the war, the mass media repeatedly appeared with videos showing the murders or brutal treatment of unarmed servicemen who had surrendered as prisoners – both Ukrainian and Russian. Each time, the parties accused each other of war crimes.
  • The authorities of Ukraine publicly promised to investigate cases of possible crimes committed by servicemen of their army. There is no information about the results of these investigations. The Russian authorities did not comment on the video with the probable murders of Ukrainian soldiers.
  • The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, the International Criminal Court in The Hague and human rights organizations are keeping records and investigating alleged war criminals during the war in Ukraine.
