According to the secretary of the UNC, Strelkov refused to be hospitalized in a pre-trial detention center

The responsible secretary of the Moscow Public Supervisory Commission, Alexey Melnikov, visited the former leader of the Donetsk separatists, Igor Strelkov (Gyrkin), who is in pretrial detention on charges of public appeals for extremist activities.

According to Melnikov, Strelkov, whose relatives claimed a sharp deterioration in his health, refused to be admitted to the FSIN hospital.

The Secretary of the National Criminal Court claims that Strelkov is regularly monitored by the doctor of the isolation ward, the accused receives all the necessary medical care and is feeling better at the moment. “When I asked if he really had a hand, he answered: “He didn’t have a hand, but he didn’t have it before, even before the isolation ward. Old traumas…” – quotes the arrested Melnikov.

Also, according to Melnikov, Strelkov noted the courtesy of the prison staff and the good food.

Earlier, Igor Strelkov’s wife, Myroslava Reginskaya, said that her husband was in a serious condition – allegedly, his arm began to withdraw, he had convulsions, difficulty breathing, and a possible pre-infarction condition. Regynskaya appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to cancel Strelkov’s arrest.

Strelkov himself, according to the Secretary of the UNC Alexey Melnikov, previously refused to communicate with human rights defenders, he did not give any reason for this.

• The former leader of the Donetsk separatists, ex-minister of defense of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic and reserve colonel of the FSB Igor Strelkov was detained in his Moscow apartment on July 21. Later, the court arrested him for two months. According to the indictment, which was caused by several of Strelkov’s posts criticizing the Russian government, he faces up to five years in prison.
• Strelkov became famous in 2014, when a detachment of dozens of Russian citizens led by him, with the support of separatists, captured the Ukrainian city of Slavyansk in the Donetsk region. The war in Donbas actually began with the battles in Slavyansk. Now Strelkov is one of the active supporters of Russia’s war against Ukraine. At the same time, from the beginning, he harshly criticized the Russian military command for failures at the front, in particular – Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
• In November last year, Strelkov was sentenced in absentia by a Dutch court in The Hague to life imprisonment for his involvement in the crash of a Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 passenger plane in Donbass in 2014. 298 people died in the disaster. Strelkov did not participate in the trial and denies guilt.
