The French company Pernod Ricard has announced that it is ceasing its activities in Russia. The corresponding application is published on the company’s website. Pernod Ricard stopped new deliveries of its products to Russia in April of this year, now its task is to sell off the rest and wind down its activities.
Pernod Ricard is the world’s second largest producer of wines and spirits. It produces such well-known brands as Martell cognac, Chivas Regal, Jameson and Ballantine’s whiskeys, Beefeater gin, Absolut vodka, Olmeca tequila and others.
The representative of Pernod Ricard said in a comment to the profile publication Just Drinks that after the closure of the Russian representative office, about 300 employees will remain. He also mentioned that the company will consider the possibility of returning to the Russian market “when the circumstances become favorable.”
In a statement to the press, Pernod Ricard noted that the company has condemned and continues to condemn the Russian military invasion of Ukraine from the very beginning, expresses solidarity with Ukrainians and complies with all international sanctions imposed on Russia.
