Alexander Nevzorov was charged with “inciting hatred”

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia opened a criminal case of inciting hatred against publicist Alexander Nevzorov. In the statement of the prosecutor’s office, the name of the suspect is not mentioned, it is indicated that his profession is a reporter. The publication “Fontanka” believes that it is about Nevzorov. The court of the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg, where Nevzorov has an apartment, is dealing with the case.

The prosecutor’s office stated that the reporter posted a video on the Internet containing “signs of inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity in relation to citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, military personnel of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, representatives of the country’s state authorities, performing arts workers, ministers of religious cults, as well as members of Cossack societies and united.”

After the war in Ukraine, Alexander Nevzorov moved abroad. In Russia, a former TV presenter, a member of the State Duma and a trusted representative of Vladimir Putin, became one of the first accused in the article about so-called fakes about the army, which was included in the Criminal Code shortly after the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Now Nevzorov takes a radically anti-Kremlin position and supports Ukraine.

Nevzorov was entered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia in the register of foreign agents. On May 6 last year, the court arrested him in absentia, and in February of this year he sentenced him in absentia to eight years in prison for publishing about the alleged crimes of the Russian military in the Ukrainian cities of Mariupol and Bucha.
