Alexey Moskalyov – the father of the girl who drew an anti-war picture at school – is in the Smolensk pre-trial detention center. This is reported by OVD.Info with reference to lawyer Vladimir Bilyenko. Moskalyov’s whereabouts after his detention in Belarus at the end of March were not known for more than a month.
OVD.Info publishes a note handed over to Moskalyov’s lawyer with words of gratitude to everyone who followed the history of his family. “Russia only stands on people like you,” Moskalyov wrote.
According to him, during his detention in Belarus, he was severely beaten with hands and feet, several blows were inflicted on his head, including hitting his head against a wall.
At the end of March, Alexey Moskalyov was sentenced by a court in the Tula region to two years in prison on charges of so-called discrediting the army. He did not come to the announcement of the verdict. A day later, he was detained in Belarus. From then until today, there was no information about his whereabouts.
Moskalev’s daughter Masha, whom he raised alone, was placed in a shelter in early March. After Moskalyov’s sentence, when the case gained great resonance, her mother, who had not seen her daughter for many years, took her from the shelter. The authorities withdrew the lawsuit to restrict the parents – including the father – in parental rights.
