An activist was detained in Moscow because of his interview with Radio Liberty

Anti-war activist Maksym Lypkan was detained in Moscow after a search. Earlier, he announced the “Year of Hell” rally.

In the morning, 18-year-old Lypkan was searched: in the apartment where he lives and in his father’s apartment, where he is registered. The activist’s door was broken down and several books were taken. The lawyer was not allowed to see him. After a six-hour search, Lypkan was detained and taken to the investigative committee.

The search was based on an article about fakes about the army. The Russian authorities consider the publication of any information about the war in Ukraine that differs from the version of the Ministry of Defense of Russia to be fake. The activist’s lawyer reported that the reason for initiating the criminal case was Lypkan’s interview about the war and protest actions, which he gave to Radio Liberty.

The day before, the Moscow authorities finally refused Lypkan to hold the “Year of Hell” rally on the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Earlier, the Moscow City Hall did not approve it, referring to anti-coronavirus restrictions.

At the same time, the concert at which the President of Russia Vladimir Putin will perform will be held in Moscow. It is expected that 200,000 people will gather at the Luzhniki stadium – the crowd will be recruited for the event for 500 rubles, food and release from couples in universities.
