An Omsk activist was fined in connection with the case of financing the FBK

Anton Kovryk, an activist from Omsk, was sentenced to a fine of 300,000 rubles in a criminal case related to the financing of the Anti-Corruption Fund, recognized by the Russian authorities as extremist. The verdict was handed down by the Central District Court of Tyumen, the publication “7×7” drew attention to it.

The activist spent several months in a pre-trial detention center. He was released from the execution of the punishment imposed by the court in the form of a fine, having counted the time spent behind bars, reports Sibir.Realii.

Kovryk was detained in Omsk on September 6 last year and transported to Tyumen, where the crime was allegedly committed. On September 28, he was placed under arrest.

The case was initiated under the article on the financing of extremist activities. Earlier, the activist was detained in Moscow on January 23, 2021 for actions in support of the founder of FBK Alexei Navalny, and in 2022 he was fined under the article on the so-called discrediting of the army for an anti-war poster.

• On June 9, 2021, the Moscow City Court recognized FBK, the Fund for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations.
• As of April 2024, according to the publication “Cold”, at least 53 people have become accused in criminal cases related to the Anti-Corruption Fund. 18 of the 53 defendants have already been sentenced, including to actual terms. 19 people managed to leave Russia before being detained; almost all of them were arrested in absentia or declared wanted. 16 people are awaiting sentencing.
• The day before, several cities were raided in connection with FBK donations, including Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, Irkutsk, Syktyvkar, and Moscow.
