Iryna Khakamada’s master class on “taming energy flows”, which was supposed to take place in Irkutsk on March 28, was canceled after a call from the State Duma deputy from the “United Russia” party, Alexander Yakubovsky.
Yakubovsky reported that he held negotiations with the owners of the Irkutsk “Sybexpocenter”, in whose building the performance was planned, and handed them “addresses from relatives of mobilized guys” who were outraged by “rude statements of Khakamada”.
“I hope that the other landlords in Irkutsk will also have enough civil position to refuse the organizers of this event,” the deputy summarized.
Khakamada’s earlier performance was canceled in Voronezh.
- Irina Khakamada is a former deputy and vice-speaker of the State Duma, co-founder, together with Boris Nemtsov, Anatoly Chubais and the current first deputy head of the presidential administration of Russia Sergey Kiriyenko, of the now defunct Union of Right Forces party. From 2012 to 2018, Khakamada was a member of the Presidential Council on Human Rights, after which she left politics to focus on educational activities.
- At the beginning of this year, in an interview with the RTVI channel, Khakamada, answering the question whether there are among her acquaintances mobilized who went to war in Ukraine, said: “No, they are not idiots.” This statement created a resonance among the patriotic public.
