American actor and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger was detained on Wednesday at Munich airport. The reason was that he did not declare expensive watches. He had to spend several hours in the customs office. He paid a fine of 35,000 euros for violating customs regulations.

According to the German tabloid Bild, Schwarzenegger was traveling from Munich to the Austrian ski resort of Kitzbühel, where the international climate summit will open tomorrow. On Thursday, an auction is planned as part of the ego, at which the artist intends to put his watches up for sale. Proceeds from the auction will go to support climate protection initiatives.

The watch was made by the Swiss company Audemars Piguet in a single copy especially for the artist. They are luxury items and are subject to mandatory declaration. Schwarzenegger himself valued them at 20,000 euros, but prices for Piguet watches are usually much higher. Even standard models can cost from 60 thousand euros to several hundred thousand.

After paying the fine and fees, Schwarzenegger was able to continue his journey. The watches remained with him and will be auctioned on Thursday.
