In Russia, the winners of the first competition for presidential grants from the country’s budget were announced in 2023. The publication “7×7” drew attention to this.

According to the results of the grant competition, 4.3 billion rubles will be allocated to 1,845 projects. Among them, at least thirty are directly related to the war in Ukraine, and most of them are aimed at supporting the mobilized and their families.

For those who went to fight in Ukraine, pupils of a boarding school in the Chelyabinsk region will sew balaclavas, snoods and thermal underwear, residents of Kirov – warm clothes and hats, and proactive Russian women – knit socks. Almost two million budget rubles have been allocated for these three projects.

About one million rubles will be given for a traveling exhibition in Khakassia with portraits of participants in the wars in Chechnya, Syria and Ukraine, and more than 300 thousand rubles will be given for a sports ground in the Volgograd region in memory of those who died during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

At least a dozen projects in different regions of Russia received grants for the organization of psychological assistance to the families of the mobilized, and several for their legal support. And as part of at least one, physical assistance will be provided to women whose husbands went to fight in Ukraine, including collecting firewood, digging gardens and housework provided by the “Temporary Husband” package.

  • The Presidential Grants Fund (Fund-operator of Presidential Grants for the Development of Civil Society) is fully subsidized from the Russian federal budget.
