Raw food blogger, whose son died of exhaustion, received 8 years in prison

The court in Sochi sentenced raw food blogger Maksym Lyuty, whose child died of exhaustion, to 8 years in a strict regime colony. This was reported by the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnodar Territory in the Telegram channel. The court also fined him 100,000 rubles.

The accusation demanded for him eight and a half years with a fine of the same amount. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed.

In March 2023, Maksym Lyuty’s newborn son died of multiple organ failure. Lyuty was accused of causing serious harm to the child’s health and failure to fulfill parental responsibilities. According to the first article, he was threatened with up to 15 years of imprisonment, according to the second – up to three years of imprisonment.

Lutyy positioned himself as a coach of personal growth and an adherent of “non-traditional” methods of recovery. He was in favor of refusing food and feeding on the energy of the sun.

In February 2023, Lyuty’s co-wife gave birth to a child at home. After that, according to the investigation, during the month the father took the baby away from the mother three times and left food for a day. When the newborn’s health deteriorated, the couple took him to the hospital, but the child died on the way.

According to the prosecution, the cause of the baby’s death was exhaustion and hypothermia as a result of “non-traditional” methods of recovery practiced by his parents.

Lutyy pleaded not guilty to causing serious harm to his son’s health and claimed that he did not prevent the mother from feeding the child and did not limit her in this matter, and also did not pour cold water on the baby, as the prosecution believes. In the last word, he said that he regrets causing the child’s death due to carelessness. He claimed that he did not go to the doctors because he did not know that the boy was born prematurely, and his mother had health problems.

The child’s mother, Oksana Mironova, was previously sentenced to two years of correctional labor for failure to fulfill parental duties and leaving the baby in danger.
