Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said that at the end of June he had a telephone conversation with CIA Director William Burns, during which they allegedly discussed “what to do with Ukraine.” He told about this in a conversation with TASS.

On June 30, The Wall Street Journal reported on the telephone conversation between Naryshkin and Burns. The publication claims that the director of the CIA called the head of the SVR to assure that the United States was not involved in the mutiny of PMC “Wagner”. Naryshkin confirmed the fact of the conversation, but stated that this topic was “a proposal for a conversation.” According to him, the main part of the conversation was devoted to the war in Ukraine.

Naryshkin stated that he did not agree with Burns about a personal meeting, but such an opportunity remains.

Burns has not yet commented on Naryshkin’s words.

• The Washington Post reported that Burns visited Kyiv in June, and during the trip, as it is said, Ukraine’s possible peace talks with Russia were discussed. The condition for the beginning of such negotiations, as it is said, was the exit of the Ukrainian military to the annexed Crimea.
