Britain announced new sanctions against Russia: export restrictions and Rosatom officials

Britain announced a new package of sanctions against Russia, which should close opportunities for exporting everything that the Kremlin uses for war, as well as against new individuals – including Rosatom officials and two more companies of the Russian military industry.

This was announced by the British government, “European Truth” writes.

The goal of the export sanctions is to block the import into Russia of “everything that, as Ukraine has established, Russia used on the battlefield.”

“Among the hundreds of product nomenclature are aircraft spare parts, radio equipment, electronic components that can be used by the Russian military industry, in particular for the production of drones. Intelligence sources indicate that the lack of components due to sanctions is already affecting the ability of the Russian Federation to produce weapons for export, in particular armored vehicles, attack helicopters and of air defense,” the communique states.

The highest officials of Rosatom, two large defense industry companies, four Russian banks and Russian elites were also sanctioned.

In particular, these are 34 persons associated with the Rostec Corporation, as well as the Almaz-Antey Corporation, which specializes in surface-to-air defense equipment and weapons for use from aircraft; 6 enterprises involved in the repair of military equipment.

New personal sanctions are introduced against Mathias Varning, executive director of Nord Stream 2, formerly a member of the board of Transneft and Rosneft, who is called a close friend of Putin; Alina Kabaeva’s mother Lyubov Kabaeva; the former chief bodyguard of Putin, Alexei Dyumin, for his role in the annexation of Crimea and the organization of air reconnaissance exercises for the forces of the Russian Federation; Andrei Kozak – the son of the former deputy prime minister, a close associate of Putin, Dmitry Kozak; 20 officials of “Gazprom” and “Aeroflot” – including the head of “Gazprom” Viktor Zubkov – and two current Russian ministers.

5 Iranian officials from Qods Aviation Industry – a company that manufactures drones that the Russian Federation used in Ukraine – were also under sanctions.

In addition to export restrictions on goods used by the Russian Federation to wage war, Britain also bans the import of 140 goods, including iron and steel processed in third countries.

In addition, Britain will expand the previously introduced sanctions against Crimea and ORDLO to the Russian-occupied regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Minister for Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch said that imports to Britain from Russia, compared to the situation before 24.02.22, decreased by 99%, and exports of goods to Russia – by about 80%.

We will remind, the European Union did not have time to agree on the 10th package of sanctions to the anniversary of the aggression through Poland, which considers the proposed restrictions not tough enough.
