Cryptocurrencies are owned by 6 million Ukrainians – study

Last year, Ukraine took third place in the rating of cryptocurrency acceptance by the population. This is stated in the data of the research company Triple A, writes noworries.news.

According to the research company Tripple A, the percentage of Ukrainians who own digital assets grew by more than 2% in an hour. Thus, by the beginning of 2022, 15.72% of the population, or 6 million citizens, had cryptocurrency.

93.8% of cryptocurrency owners were men, 6.2% were women. 42% of them are between the ages of 35 and 44. The second largest group is people aged 45 to 54 years. 6.6% of respondents said they were over 55 years old.

More than 60% of crypto enthusiasts have higher education diplomas. 22.5% of the audience received only secondary education, and 1% of those surveyed have a scientific degree. Most of those who invest in cryptocurrencies work in IT and trade. 15.9% of people are engaged in construction, and more than 10% work in marketing.

Less than 1% serve in the Armed Forces. 3% of the audience said that they remained unemployed after the start of a full-scale war.

62.5% of the audience earn up to $1 thousand. per month The second largest group receives from $1 thousand. up to $2999. The monthly income of 27 of the respondents is $3,000. to $4,999, and the wage level of four more respondents exceeded $10,000.

13.6% of respondents said that they learned about cryptocurrencies more than 10 years ago. At the same time, only 6.6% of those who immediately started investing were counted. Most (26.8%) of those surveyed became owners of digital assets in the period from 2015 to 2017.

One of the most popular reasons for investing in cryptocurrency for Ukrainians is the desire to try something new. More than 46% of the audience chose this option. A little less (26.4%) of those who bought coins and tokens as a long-term investment. In turn, 17.4% wanted to make quick money by buying digital assets.

More than half of those surveyed (56.6%) buy cryptocurrency with money left over from planned monthly expenses. 31.1% of respondents consciously set aside a certain amount every month for the purchase of virtual coins. 6.8% of the audience receives a salary in crypto, 3.2% invested in it money from the sale of valuable assets. 2.3% of respondents borrowed money to buy cryptocurrency.

The vast majority of crypto enthusiasts perceive digital assets as a long-term investment. 28.3% of surveyed Ukrainians engage in trading, 8.2% of respondents use cryptocurrency for savings. 14% of the audience consider cryptoinvestments to be their hobby.

Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Cardano (ADA) and Dogecoin (DOGE) are among the top five cryptocurrencies stored in the wallets of Ukrainian cryptoholders.

How the survey was conducted

Crypto exchange EXMO.com decided to find out who they are – Ukrainian crypto-enthusiasts and conducted a survey. The sample consisted of 863 people. Analysts noted that the sample is not indicative for the whole of Ukraine, however, the results of the study make it possible to understand the current cryptotrends for our state.
