Defense expenditures in 2022 increased 9 times

State budget expenditures for defense in 2022 increased 9 times, for security – 2.5 times. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal during the meeting at which the government approved reports on the implementation of the state budget for 2021 and 2022.

“Despite the unprecedented challenges, we managed to fully finance all key expenditures of the Ukrainian budget. In 2022, we increased our country’s defense spending nine times compared to 2021. Security spending has increased by 2.5 times,” the Prime Minister noted.
Shmyhal also added that spending on social protection of the population increased by 25% last year and by 8% on health care.
According to him, thanks to the “eSupport” program, after the start of the full-scale war, 4.8 million Ukrainians received a one-time payment of UAH 6.5 thousand each, and businesses received more than UAH 100 billion in soft loans during the invasion.
Implementation of the 2021 state budget
According to the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, the state budget report for 2021 was approved:
- on revenues in the amount of 1 trillion 296 billion 896.5 million UAH,
- by expenses — 1 trillion 491 billion 206.4 million UAH,
- by the volume of loan repayment — 9 billion 109.6 million UAH,
- in the amount of loans granted 13 billion 643.5 million UAH with a deficit in the amount of 198 billion 843.8 million UAH.
Implementation of the 2022 state budget
The report on the state budget for 2022 was approved:
- on revenues in the amount of 1 trillion 787 billion 711.1 million UAH,
- by expenses — 2 trillion 705 billion 749.6 million UAH,
- on the volume of loan repayments — 12 billion 333.7 million UAH,
- in terms of the volume of loans — 9 billion 163.2 million UAH and with a deficit in the amount of 914 billion 868 million UAH.
Let’s remind
“Ministry of Finance” wrote that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed bill No. 9105, which provides for a record increase in state budget expenditures by UAH 537.2 billion.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to the Verkhovna Rada to increase state budget expenditures in 2023 by 20% or UAH 537 billion.
