Deputies agree to increase Ukraine’s debt


The Budget Committee approved the increase in Ukraine’s debt by Bill No. 8399. These are the first changes to the budget this year. Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this in Telegram.

After the adoption of this draft law:

  • planned state borrowing increases to UAH 1,707.4 billion (currently UAH 1,703.6 billion)
  • the limit of the state budget deficit — up to UAH 1,300.4 billion (currently UAH 1,296.5 billion, which is 20.6% of forecast GDP)
  • the limit of state debt as of December 31, 2023 — up to UAH 6,426.6 billion.

Let’s remind

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance wrote that in 2023, payments on Ukraine’s public debt according to the transactions effective at the beginning of the year will amount to UAH 658.4 billion, or $18 billion at the current exchange rate, but on foreign debt – only UAH 122.4 billion, or $3 3 billion
