A two-level transport interchange is planned to be built in Kyiv this year at the intersection of Bogatyrska and Polarnaya streets – the “Kyivavtodor” utility corporation is finishing the development of design and estimate documentation for the reconstruction of the transport hub.

It is reported press service of the KMDA.

The next step will be the announcement of the procurement procedure directly for the implementation of reconstruction works.

An intersection of the “incomplete clover leaf” type will be built at the intersection of two highways.

“The design throughput capacity of the node is 11,200 cars/hour. This is many times higher than the intersection with a traffic light, which constantly delays traffic, which causes traffic jams during peak hours,” the KMDA emphasizes.

Driving from Polyarnaya Street to Heroiv Dnipra Street will be carried out over an overpass with 6 traffic lanes. The length of the building will be 125 m.

Bicycle lanes are planned to be installed at the intersection, and a shared bicycle-pedestrian sidewalk is planned for the overpass. The total length of the cycle paths will be about 2.8 km.

“The feasibility study for the reconstruction of the junction has already been approved by the relevant order. It is planned that, subject to regular funding, the reconstruction of the transport hub will last for about 2 years,” the message added.
