The plane that took off from Boryspil airport on December 19 was the largest passenger plane in Ukraine – a Boeing 777-300ER, and was evacuated to Europe.

About this informs profile edition of avianews.com.

According to the open data of the online radar flightradar24, the airliner with the flight number UR-AZR of the Skyline Express airline, formerly known as Azur Air Ukraine, took off from Boryspil in the morning and landed at the French Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées airport in a few hours.

“This airfield is used as a base for maintenance and long-term storage of airliners,” the newspaper writes.

On February 24, 2022, this Boeing 777-300ER was at Boryspil Airport and was unable to take off because the skies of Ukraine were closed due to the start of the invasion.

The Boeing 777-300ER arrived in Ukraine at the end of 2021 after working for the Russian airline Azur Air. The peculiarity of the airliner was its capacity – it could carry 531 passengers, which is a record for Ukrainian aviation.

Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the airliner under the callsign Azur Air Ukraine carried tourists of the affiliated tour operator Anex Tour to the resorts of the Caribbean – the Dominican Republic and the Mexican Cancun.

As the publication notes, earlier, in addition to the specified Boeing 777-300ER, on December 20, 2022, Turkey evacuated two Airbus A400 military transport aircraft. They arrived in Boryspil on the night of February 23-24, 2022 and remained blocked due to the closure of Ukrainian airspace.

Also, on April 4, 2023, the Ukrainian airline SkyUp was able to fly a Boeing 737-800 with registration UR-SQP from Boryspil Airport to Romania. It was the only aircraft of the carrier that was in Ukraine at the time of the Russian invasion.

We remind you:

On December 19, 2023, around 9 a.m., a Boeing 777-300 took off from Boryspil International Airport.

In the message of “Boryspil” airport, it was noted that this technical overrun of the aircraft “facilitates recovery policy testing” (flights, – ed.).

It was also reported that this is already the fourth successful flight from Boryspil Airport since the beginning of the war.
