The head of the “League of Safe Internet” Ekaterina Myzulyna, daughter of State Duma deputy Elena Myzulyna, filed a defamation lawsuit against the independent publication Sota. The main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow opened a criminal case. Myzulyna herself reported this in her Telegram channel. She also stated that she intends to bring to justice all those who “reprinted and distributed defamatory information.”
The reason for the lawsuit was the publication of Sota, in which it was stated that pornography, including children’s, is distributed on the site “Russkoe obozrenie”, which belongs to the “League of Safe Internet”. The publication was accompanied by screenshots from the site.
In response, Mizulyna stated that “Russkoye obozrenie” has not been working for several months, its activity was suspended by Roskomnadzor. At the same time, in the documentation of the site, its license is still indicated as “current”. In addition, Myzulyna claims that the pornographic material on “Russian Review” was “a trap made by our lawyers” in anticipation of the attention of “provocateurs”.
Myzulyna also intends to contact the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to consider the issue of recognizing the publication Sota as a “foreign agent”.
The Sota editorial office considers Myzulina’s actions and instigation of the case to be politically motivated.
