Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he believes in the possibility of continuing the Black Sea Grain Initiative after his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He told journalists about this after returning from a tour of the Persian Gulf countries, reports “European Truth” with reference to Anadolu.
Erdogan said that Ankara continues contacts with Moscow, in particular at the level of the Foreign Ministry.
He also intends to discuss the continuation of the “grain deal” with Putin both by phone and during his visit to Turkey, which is scheduled for August.
“The termination of the Black Sea Grain Initiative will have a number of negative consequences, including the rise in world food prices, hunger and a new wave of migration. We will continue to take the initiative to prevent such a coincidence. I believe that negotiations with Mr. Putin will help ensure the continuation of this humanitarian initiative. He also has certain expectations from Western countries, and they, in turn, should take appropriate measures,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish president noted that his country will make every effort, including diplomatic efforts, to restore the “grain agreement”.
He is confident that, thanks to the efforts, it will be possible to ensure the continuation of the agreement on the “grain corridor”.
As you know, on July 17, Russia announced the suspension of the “grain agreement” and threatened with “risks” parties who decide to continue the initiative without the participation of the Russian Federation.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, believes that a complete end to the Russian naval blockade of Ukrainian ports will be possible when when Ukraine will receive the first F-16 squadrons.
