More than 21% of Ukrainian pensioners have the right to preferential conditions for retirement, which concern both the retirement age and the method of calculating the amount of the pension.
About this reported First Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Daryna Marchak in the “Economic Chronicles” podcast.
“According to our calculations, 2.3 million out of 10.5 million pensioners in Ukraine, i.e. more than 21%, are those pensioners who have the right to a preferential pension. Moreover, as noted by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development – EP), “On average, a person entitled to a preferential pension retires 15 years earlier than other pensioners,” Marchak said.
She added that Poland has the highest share of preferential pensions among OECD countries. However, there it is only about 6%.
“We considered the situation of a specific person. If she retired according to general rules, the amount of her pension would be UAH 5,400. However, the legislation that gives her the right to a pension gives her the right to receive payments that are actually 10 times higher,” – added the First Deputy Minister of Social Policy.
