Former municipal deputy Alexey Horinov, whose whereabouts were unknown for more than 10 days, was found in the prison hospital at the IK-3 colony in the Vladimir region. Earlier, Horynov’s lawyers reported that communication with him was interrupted. On December 8, when Horinov met with the defender for the last time, he noted that the health condition of the ex-deputy had deteriorated sharply and caused serious concern. After that, lawyers began to be denied visits.

Horynov’s associates specified in their Telegram channel that he was hospitalized on December 15 “in a very serious condition, with a temperature of 40”. This Monday, the lawyer managed to visit his ego. He said that Horinov feels better.

After the last visit, the lawyer reported that Horynov had bronchitis, fever and constant chills. “Alexei has no strength, even sitting on a chair and talking. He almost fell down several times,” the defender clarified. Horinov himself said then that he was seeking medical help, but the prison doctor said that the temperature was normal and no treatment was required. At the same time, to the lawyer’s question, the colony staff answered that all the necessary assistance would be provided to his ward.

Horinov suffers from a chronic lung disease, and in 2016 he underwent an operation to remove part of a lung. More than 70 current and former deputies from Russian regions have signed an open letter to President Vladimir Putin, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Human Rights Council with a request to ensure that Horinov receives the necessary treatment. More than 100 Russian doctors signed the second similar letter – from the medical community.

  • Former Moscow municipal deputy Alexei Horinov was sentenced to seven years in prison in the summer of this year on charges of spreading fakes about the Russian army. He was convicted for speaking at a meeting of the municipal council, which was attended by several people. During the meeting, the deputies, at the suggestion of Alexei Horynov, announced a minute of silence in memory of the victims of aggression in Ukraine. Horinov also noted that all efforts of civil society in Russia should be directed to stopping the war.
  • In October, it became known that another criminal case was initiated against Horynov – on the article about the justification of terrorism. The case materials indicate that in the colony, during conversations with other prisoners, Horinov tried to form in the convicts “an opinion about the permissibility of the activities of an organization recognized by the legislation of the Russian Federation as terrorist, as well as the commission of acts of sabotage and terrorism at the objects of the transport infrastructure.” Presumably, it was about the Ukrainian unit “Azov” and about the explosions on the Crimean bridge.
