five people died in the flood in the Orenburg region

In the Orenburg region, at least five people died during the flood. This was written by the publication “Vazhney istorii”, which spoke to the relatives of the victims and volunteers.

According to the publication, four people died in Orsk: 65-year-old Sergey Laryn, 82-year-old Zoya Stepanova, 70-year-old Yuri Larionov and 57-year-old Rustam Akhmetov. Another person died near Orenburg – Andrey Chernyshov, a 51-year-old resident of the village of Prigorodny.

At the same time, on Monday, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, during a visit to Orsk, said that there were no deaths in the city as a result of the dam breach.

A relative of Sergey Laryn, who lived on Chapaeva Street in Orsk, told journalists that two more bodies of those who died in the flood were found on this street, but the publication was unable to verify this information. Laryn’s funeral has already taken place, but the morgue has not yet announced the official cause of death.

A volunteer who searches for the missing in Orsk told “Important stories” that there are more dead than missing in the city. “I can’t name the exact figure, but [погибших] a lot,” said the volunteer.

At least two residents of Orsk are missing – pensioner Nina Solovyeva and her 49-year-old son Alim Satygulov. Relatives have been looking for them for more than 10 days.

On April 7, regional authorities reported the death of four people in Orsk, but the city’s mayor’s office claimed that their deaths were not related to the flood.

• On April 5, a dam broke in Orsk, as a result of which about seven thousand houses were flooded in the city, and 12 thousand people were evacuated.
• The current flood in the Orenburg region is the largest ever observed in the region. It has been assigned the status of a federal emergency. According to the latest data, the damage to the infrastructure is estimated at more than 40 billion rubles. More than 10,700 people have been evacuated from the affected areas, of which about one and a half thousand are in temporary accommodation. Residents of the flooded territories stand in queues for water, humanitarian aid and at the MFC to issue one-time payments.
