In Kaliningrad, a court arrested five law enforcement officers. They are suspected of torture. They themselves deny their guilt.
According to the Investigative Committee, the suspects are the head of the investigative department of the Kaliningrad regional customs, an operative of the private security department of the transport police, two employees of the Russian Guard and an employee of the Department of Economic Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The investigation claims that on March 28, they conducted a series of searches of seven city residents suspected of illegal business and possession of tobacco products. During the searches, the suspects were beaten and interrogated with electric currents in order to obtain incriminating statements.
After the incident, the victims stopped the beatings and filed a complaint with the police. A criminal case was opened against the policemen for exceeding their official powers.
Sever.Realii edition reports that according to the court’s decision, the suspects will remain in custody until May 30.

The average real term was about four years. In half of the cases, it was not possible to initiate the case.
