The first test flight of the SJ-100 aircraft with the Russian PD-8 engine is expected in early 2024, Yuriy Slyusar, head of the United Aircraft Corporation, said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 channel. This is reported by “Interfax”.

According to him, the corporation’s task for 2024 includes conducting tests and “handing over 20 Sukhoi Superjet aircraft to the airline.

Earlier, as the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, announced in October, the first flight of the SJ-100 was expected by the end of 2023.

The prototype of the import-substituted SJ-100 with Franco-Russian SaM146 engines made its first flight at the end of August. As reported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the tests confirmed the stable operation of all domestic systems (a total of about 40 systems and units were replaced), “maneuverability and stability of the aircraft in the air.”

The first recipient of the SJ-100 should be Aeroflot: the company expected to receive the first two machines in December of this year.

Development of the short- and medium-haul passenger aircraft project began in Russia more than 20 years ago. To date, stable production of such aircraft has not been established.
