Fuel market in Ukraine: Gasoline and diesel prices have fallen sharply

The decrease in prices for gasoline, diesel fuel, and autogas, observed in Ukraine at the end of January, was caused by large stocks held by gas station networks. Sergey Kuyun, director of the A-95 Consulting Group, said this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

Falling prices
According to his data, active price reduction began on January 19. During this period, diesel fuel fell in price from 54 to 52.70 hryvnias, gasoline A-95 fell in price from 50.20 to 48.90 hryvnias. At the same time, in some networks, prices fell by 3 hryvnias per liter.
“The recession is very serious,” Kuyun noted.
The drop in gasoline prices “is primarily due to the fact that there are very large reserves on the market,” he said.

“January and February are the two most “dead months” of the year, when consumption is minimal, and we see that supplies are quite large. Stocks are made, including thanks to the government, which emphasized at the end of October on the need to build stocks on the eve of the introduction of an embargo on the import of Russian oil products to Europe,” he said.
As Kuyun noted, today the main networks have at least a monthly supply for their activities, except for ongoing operational supplies.
“Therefore, the market is in very good shape,” the expert stated.
