Google has announced that it will integrate generative artificial intelligence (AI) into its search engine – in the coming weeks, access will be given to US users on a waiting list.

By integrating AI into the search engine as part of the Search Generative Experience, users will be able to get answers to arbitrary queries, the company said at its annual developer conference on Wednesday.
In the coming weeks, the system will be available only to a limited number of users in the United States, Reuters writes. During this phase, Google will monitor the quality, speed and cost of search results.
The company also said it is removing the waiting list for the Bard chatbot, which will launch in English in 180 countries. Later, the company plans to expand its support to 40 languages. In addition, Google said that soon the chatbot will be able to respond to requests not only with text, but also with images.
Reuters, citing a demonstration conducted for the agency, provides an example of the work of Search Generative Experience. So, upon the request “weather in San Francisco”, the search engine will point the user to the forecast for eight days.
Instead, when asked about what clothes to wear in the city, it will provide an expanded answer generated by artificial intelligence. “You should bring a few layers of clothing, including a short-sleeved shirt and a light sweater or jacket for the day,” reads the displayed answer.
Earlier this year, Google’s competitor, Microsoft, added OpenAI’s GPT-4 to its Bing search engine.
