On the morning of August 24, a group of Ukrainian soldiers landed on the territory of the annexed Crimea and conducted a “special operation”. This was reported by Andrey Yusov, representative of the Main Intelligence Office of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) in a comment to Hromadske and Suspilne publications.

On Wednesday morning, a number of Russian Telegram channels, as well as Krym.Realii, reported the sounds of gunfire in the area of Cape Tarkhankut in western Crimea.

According to Yusov, the GUR “conducted a special operation in cooperation with the navy, the goals were achieved, there were no casualties among personnel.” Yusov did not say what the goals of the landings were, he only noted that the Russian military had losses in personnel, forces and resources.

Krym.Realii, with reference to sources in the Ukrainian intelligence, reported on a battle with the participation of vessels and aviation, which took place near the settlement of Mayak in Crimea. In this village is the base of the 3rd radio engineering regiment as part of the radio engineering troops of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Air defense positions are also reportedly located on the Tarkhankut peninsula. The day before, the Ukrainian military reported the defeat of one of the Russian S-400 installations located on the cape. The Russian military did not confirm or deny this.

Russian Telegram channels SHOT and Baza, as well as a number of pro-military channels, also reported on the shooting in the area of Tarkhankut Cape. In particular, “Baza” wrote that the residents of the campsite, located not far from the village of Mayak, heard loud shots and saw two rubber boats in which there were about ten armed people – presumably Ukrainian special forces. The boats later left the shore.

There were no official messages from the Russian side about what happened in Crimea.
