The Association of Cities and Municipalities of Germany calls for speeding up the integration of Ukrainian refugees in the labor market, allowing them to find work without knowledge of the German language.
About this informs tagesschau.
According to the general director of the association Andre Bergegger, the German authorities should speed up the process of integration of Ukrainians in the labor market by changing the rules of employment of refugees.
“We are still too bureaucratized and inflexible when it comes to labor market integration. It should be possible to get a job without first taking language and integration courses,” said Bergegger.
He also called for integration activities and language learning to take place simultaneously with employment. As the number of integration courses offered stagnates, the authorities must be prepared for the fact that refugees from Ukraine will continue to arrive.
“It is also unlikely that the majority of Ukrainians will return to their homeland in the near future. Therefore, we need stable integration structures for this group,” Bergegger added.
