In Khabarovsk Krai, a mobilized man was given 10 years for leaving the unit

The military court in Khabarovsk Krai sentenced the mobilized Roman Egorov to ten years in a strict regime colony with loss of military rank under the articles of desertion and voluntary desertion. This is the most severe sentence in cases of the escape of the mobilized. “Mediazona” writes about it.

According to the sentence, Egorov left the military unit three times, as a result “he completely decided to avoid military service.” Egorov justified his absence from the unit with “household problems and a quarrel with his wife,” the document says.

It was Egorov’s wife who reported to the law enforcement authorities that her husband’s car was seen in one of the villages of the region: the second time he left the unit, Egorov decided not to return home and live in the car until they stopped looking for him.

She also reported that Egorov underwent an operation – the post-operative period coincided with the period of his mobilization. During his absence from the service, the man consulted doctors, and they recognized him as fit for military service.

According to “Mediazona” estimates, during the year of mobilization, Russian courts received more than three thousand cases of arbitrary abandonment of a part with the aggravating feature “committed during the period of mobilization.” More than half of the sentences in such cases are conditional. This is done so that the convicted could be sent to the front again, the publication writes.
