As a result of the cold weather, consumption in the power system is increasing, and therefore there is a shortage of electricity – emergency shutdowns have been applied in the capital and two regions.
She reported about it press service Ukrenergo.
In addition to the cold weather, the growth of electricity consumption in Ukraine is affected by the beginning of the working week. “There is a power deficit in the country, which is especially noticeable in the morning and evening hours – consumption peaks,” Ukrenergo added.
The available volume of generated electricity is insufficient to fully cover consumption. Produced electricity is distributed to energy and critical infrastructure, as well as to cover the needs of industry and the population. In addition, to Ukraine electricity is imported.
Consumption limits have been established for all oblenergos, on the basis of which schedules of scheduled shutdowns are drawn up. Exceeding the limits leads to the creation of emergency situations in the power system, and emergency shutdowns are used to prevent them.
As a result of the large-scale accident at the “Ukrenergo” substation in Odesa and nearby areas, emergency shutdowns continue. Due to network restrictions, emergency shutdowns are also applied in Kyiv and Kyiv region.
It is noted that the repair crews of “Ukrenergo” and “oblenergo” are working on the recovery of Odesa consumers according to reserve schemes. Critical infrastructure facilities should gradually switch to alternative power sources, which will free up a certain amount of power and direct it to household consumers.
Repair work is being carried out in an intensified mode at all energy facilities in the Odesa region that suffered from Russian attacks. Currently, efforts are concentrated on one of the objects, which will allow to speed up the restoration of electricity supply in Odessa and Odesa district.
