In Moscow, the Babushkin District Court arrested Viktor Moskalev, an employee of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, for two months. He was accused of spreading fakes about the Russian army.
The criminal case against Moskalev was initiated because of two comments he left on the Internet on April 9 last year. In the first, it was said that the Russian troops wiped the Ukrainian city of Mariupol from the face of the earth and “do not hold ceremonies with civilians”, in the second – about the murders and rapes of Ukrainians. On March 28, Moskalyov was searched and all his equipment was confiscated.
As reported in the press service of MIPT, Viktor Moskalyov holds the position of project manager at the center of scientific and technical initiatives at the university.
- In March 2022, Russia introduced laws on criminal and administrative liability for so-called fakes about the Russian army and discrediting its actions. Within an hour, the authorities initiated hundreds of criminal cases under these articles. Dozens of citizens were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment.
